Change is Coming to Foster’s!

by Josefina Russom, May 14, 2021

In this past year, many people’s lives have changed. Happy changes, sad changes, scary changes, big and little changes. Many businesses have had devastating changes: mandatory closings, layoffs, and lost revenue. Some restaurant businesses have closed for good, never to open again. Many are hanging on by a thread, or sheer wit and stubbornness. For some businesses, help came in the form of a PPP Loan. It helped us here at Foster’s, that’s for sure!

Thank God for a few staff members who stuck it out with us this past year and are still with us today. We appreciate their amazing dedication, loyalty, and willingness to help out when the chips are down! Change is coming again, now that the world is getting vaccinated. Right? Yes, change is coming. Change is going from yellow to green, to turquoise on the color-coding system for NM counties. And back to yellow again, darn it!

To me, change comes with the scenic railroad running longer this year than in 2020. Yay! Toot Toot!! Change will be happening at Foster’s too. For 30+ years Alice Nuno ran Fosters, sometimes on sheer grit and determination. As a widow with 5 kids, Alice worked tirelessly in the business as a cook, server, and bartender. Over the years, she did very well for herself and her family. She created quite a legacy! More on Alice in our next blog in June.

It’s no secret that Foster’s is looking for new ownership. Someday it will happen, but until then, we will carry on with a little bit of her grit and stubbornness! Good news for the 2021 season! Will will move forward with our dedicated returning staff members, and we’ll welcome some new staff members as well. We will all strive to provide great service to you all. We can’t wait to see you! Come on in, order your favorite foods, and say hi to your favorite Foster’s staff!

See you soon.
